Firm-fixed-price award covers 27 untrained detection canines for the U.S. Border Patrol Canine Academy in El Paso, Texas
ROCKFORD, Ill. — August 26, 2026 — MPI-K9 LLC, a veteran-owned small business specializing in canine procurement, armed security, and executive protection, today announced it has been awarded a second firm-fixed-price contract by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to supply untrained single-purpose detection canines in support of the agency’s canine training mission.
Under the new award, MPI-K9 will deliver 27 untrained detection canines to CBP’s canine training detachment at the El Paso Canine Center in El Paso, Texas. The order is issued as a 100 percent small business set-aside.
The award represents nearly four times the quantity of MPI-K9’s previous CBP canine contract, announced in July 2026, under which the company is delivering seven untrained detection canines to the same training mission. The back-to-back awards mark a significant scaling of the company’s federal canine procurement practice in a single fiscal year.
MPI-K9 sources working-dog candidates through an established international and domestic breeder and vendor network, with each animal individually evaluated for hunt drive, environmental stability, and health before acceptance.
The award reinforces MPI-K9’s position as a supplier of working-dog candidates to government and commercial clients nationwide, and follows continued growth across the company’s armed security, K9 detection and patrol, and executive protection service lines.
